• Data Storage and Security: MyLifeFiles does not save any information on its servers or databases. All user data is stored locally on your personal device.
• Encryption and Recovery Files: When you input information while you are using the MyLifeFiles site, it is encrypted using a security answer that you generate when you create your account. This encrypted data is then downloaded as a file with the extension “.mylife”, which is referred to as a “recovery file”.
• Data Retrieval: You can access your information by uploading the recovery file when you log into the MyLifeFiles website. Also, designated and trusted recovery users, such as family members, can also load the information using the recovery file and the secret answer set during sign-up, if you give them permission and instructions to do so.
• Data Loss Prevention: If you clear your browser’s cache/storage without saving a recovery file, your information will be lost permanently. Also, if the recovery file is deleted from your machine, there is no way to recover the information as MyLifeFiles does not store any data. Please ensure that you save your files on your own device so that you do not lose your information.
